The Stars started the season out with a couple exhibition games against Aurora (Midget AA and Int AA) resulting in 2 ties and a loss. Minnesota was next in line to travel to. The girls had the chance to go on a campus visit around St. Cloud State University before getting the chance to play them. The game was a great experience for our girls, tough 9-0 loss but the girls had the chance to see where they need to be if they want to play college hockey.
In October, Natalie Mlynkova notched her 100th career HTI point in a 3-1 win over the Buffalo Bisons where she tallied 2 assists.
A couple weeks after playing St. Cloud, we took a trip to Elmira College to face the D-3 squad in an exhibition game. The Stars lost 2-0 against Elmira. Our third and final college hockey game in our first half of the season brought us down to Boston to play Merrimack. Although we lost 8-2, those are the first 2 goals HTI has ever scored against a college team. Natalie Mlynkova and Valerie Manchak were the two ‘Stars’ who got HTI on the board.
Back in November, HTI became back to back champs of the RUSH Buffalo Inferno Tournament (2017 & 2018). The Stars defeated the Aurora Panthers 5-0 in the finals, with an outstanding 4 goal performance by Kristyna (Tynka) Patkova. The HTI Stars were also in Brampton 2-Nations tournament at the beginning of December. The tournament started off well with a 4-0-1 going into the Semi-Final game against Kingston where the Stars eventually would find defeat with a score of 3-1.
We are proud to announce the commitment of Natalie Mlynkova and Tynka (Kristyna) Patkova to The University of Vermont. Congratulations Girls! Well Deserved. The two will join the Catamounts for the 2020 season.
Hockey Training Institute Stars finished the first half of the season with a record of 21-11-4.
